Role of OP3FT USA
As the local branch of the OP3FT in the United States, OP3FT USA is responsible, in relation with and under the control of the OP3FT, and in compliance with local laws, for promoting, protecting, and ensuring the progress of the Frogans technology in the form of an open standard for the Internet, available to all, free of charge.
OP3FT USA can participate in the drawing up of technical specifications of the Frogans technology, in the development of software implementations, as well as in the drafting of policies. OP3FT USA ensures that the Frogans technology is well-suited to specific local characteristics, and its work is carried out by a local team.
OP3FT USA, LLC was formed on May 27, 2025, in the State of Delaware as a Public Benefit Limited Liability Company. Its first president is Amaury Grimbert.
The offices of OP3FT USA are based in Washington D.C. at the following address: 2001 L Street N.W., Suite 500, Washington D.C. 20036, USA.
OP3FT USA is financed by the OP3FT via a master agreement which stipulates that OP3FT USA provides and invoices to the OP3FT services related to the promotion, protection, and progress of the Frogans technology.
Recent activities
- Since February 1, 2025, a software developer from the OP3FT, located at the Mason Enterprise Center in Fairfax, Virginia, has been working on the development of the Frogans technology in the context of the VIE (Volontariat International en Entreprise) program.
- Monitoring of the latest technological innovations was carried out during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, 2026.
Previous activities
Numerous activities have been carried out by the OP3FT in order to prepare for the creation of OP3FT USA.
- OP3FT USA, LLC was formed following preparatory work that started in January 2018, including consultations with American lawyers for drawing up a framework for long-term cooperation with the OP3FT.
- Presentations of the Frogans technology was presented in the United States to a wide range of technology companies and players in the internet sector, such as AT&T, Cisco, Apple, Microsoft, Google, Cloudfare, and Adobe.
- Several series of discussions concerning the Frogans technology were organized for the OP3FT in February and May, 2018 by Khaled Koubaa, an Internet Public Policy expert who joined the OP3FT Board of Directors in June 2018. Presentations were given to:
- Vint Cerf and Steve Crocker, two founding fathers of the Internet, and Eric Burger, author of numerous technical specifications of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)
- American organizations and public bodies involved in Internet governance, policy, and standards, notably the Internet Society (ISOC), Public Interest Registry (PIR), the i2Coalition, and the World Bank - The Frogans technology was presented in May 2016 to the International Trademark Association (INTA, see the latest presentation), as well as during academic and technical events in the USA, notably the Internet2 Global Summit in May 2018 (see the presentation).
- Relations were established with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). These relations include:
- a TLD Registry Agreement signed between the OP3FT and ICANN for the operation of the .frogans top-level domain, in order to ensure the security, stability, and reliability required for Frogans as a medium running on top of the Internet, for the benefit of all Internet users
- two business cases published by ICANN on the .frogans TLD, one in 2017 and another in 2025
- presentations of the Frogans technology given to ICANN bodies, notably the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC, see the presentation)
- participation in ICANN official meetings and panel sessions (for example, see this presentation about Frogans addresses as an emerging identifiers technology) - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the OP3FT and Forum, a leading dispute-resolution service provider. As part of this MoU, Forum is approved as a dispute-resolution service provider for the resolution of disputes regarding Frogans addresses (see the UDRP-F policy).
- The 'leaptofrogans' URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) scheme was reviewed, approved, and published as RFC 8589 by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). This URI scheme has also been registered by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) with the Permanent status.
